Halfway Up Red Pine Mountain Lies The Cemetery

A while back, I wrote a post on my journey to the top of Red Pine Mountain. Alan had asked why that was my last visit for the year. Hunting season puts a stop to my wandering around our mountain and by the time hunting season ends, the snow is usually waist deep and it's quite a challenge to get up there. It's steep and the trails just don't exist during the winter.

But, hunting season is now officially over and today was a beautiful, sunny day, so Logan and I ventured half way up the mountain to the cemetery. I took photos along the way, one of which is my new header shot, and I also took photos of the cemetery for Linda as well. The one on this page is of a tiny headstone almost lost in the snow. It's quite a moving experience to remember how brief life could be back then and of the hardships people faced.

I hope you'll enjoy the pictures. I'll start publishing them on my photo blog tomorrow.

I'd be thrilled to have you join me there.

I love seeing pictures of your mountain! I think your photo blog is a great idea! (I could have one, but it would just be a row of houses--not very interesting! That's what my neighborhood looks like.

I always think of "The Waltons" when I visit your blog.

Thanks everyone for stopping by. I'm really enjoying my photo blog. I hope to get a new camera and learn more about the art of pictures because all I know how to do is point and shoot. If anything comes out, it is because the scenery is so beautiful.

It is like the Waltons here except instead of children, we have dogs. Especially at night when we say good night to all seven of them from our bed :)

Karen, you could do a photo blog. You have your animals which make wonderful subjects and you and Gerard go to lots of interesting spots like the zoo and we'd all love to see more of those pictures. Cities are interesting too.

I like the photo blog because it's another way of connecting people with our life.

I forgot about the hunting season.

I used to let my dogs plow a path for me through the snow, but you know how a dogs like to make zig zaggy type shaped pathways. But yes, just gets too deep, icy, the whole thing.

Snowshoes never worked for me either.

Alan, I've been looking at snowshoes. We have a pair here from the old days and they are longer than I am tall and they don't work. The short, new ones don't work either? My dogs help clear snow but sometimes they'll lag behind and make me do the work :)
