For the past several months, my shoulder has been bothering me. No big deal, I'm older and I thought it's just more arthritis setting in. I took the wait and see approach but it's been steadily getting worse so off to the doctor I went. I have a rotator cuff tear and I'm going to see the orthopedic doctor soon. In the meantime, I was told not to ride but the doctor understands I'm not listening to that advice so he told me to be careful. The problem is the pain in my shoulder is so intense upon pressure, I actually feel as though my arm is being ripped off. Thank goodness I've been clicker training Khrysta and I don't need to lead her. And, I've been practicing the dismount hands free and just jumping off which has also led to some interesting experiences.
On the other hand, I was told I'm in great physical shape for a lady of my advanced years and my blood pressure rivals that of a teenager so it wasn't all bad.
I'll post Mountain Man Monday later this week and get back in touch with all of you who were so kind to leave comments on my blog.

I'll miss your posts, but I want you to take care of YOU, my friend!
Ouch! Please be careful riding and take care!
Oh dear. Getting old(er) can stink sometimes! You hang in there. At least Spring is beginning to burst forth and you aren't cartwheeling on the ice! :P
Take it easy with that rotator cuff and maybe you won't need surgery.
Sending prayers for you.
I hope you can recover without surgery. I think that pretty much leaves you one-armed for quite a while, which would really mess up your summer and blogging.
Please take care of your shoulder. Hope you don't need surgery.
Praying for quick and full recovery. Pain sure sidelines us and teaches us something. What? I'm not sure but I'm sick of this school! lol
Oh no! I hope they can relieve your pain and fix your shoulder ASAP!!
Take care,
Tracey
You are one tough lady there, still riding and JUMPING OFF! Oh my, I hope you don't inure it any worse. Take care and do be careful. I have a great award for you at http://zemeks.blogspot.com/2009/04/thanks-mary-for-this-queen-of-awesome.html You really are "Queen of Awesome."
Oh my, I hope it's not too serious and doesn't require a long recovery. Hope the orthopedic dr can fix it up for you right quick! :)
Oh! Boy! I know that hurts! I hope you are able to strengthen it without surgery. Did he talk about physical therapy?
So glad Khrysta is smart and beautiful.....she will take care of you when your on her. Be safe and feel better soon.
Hugs,
Lisa
Take care of that rotator cuff tear. Hope you are feeling better soon.
Take care of that shoulder. And BE CAREFUL with the no handed dismount. I did that once. And no it wasn't planned.
Oh...darned ol' bods anywho!
I am glad that he said "be careful" that made me chuckle some!
Yes..do be careful and I guess you'll be making an apt for some reconstruction.
Krysta is soo good!
So sorry to hear about your shoulder! I hope they can relieve the pain it is giving you. Thankfully you have been training Krysta so well to help you "be careful" when you ride :-)
Hope your shoulder heals soon :o)
Ice, ice ice! Ice your shoulder. And maybe some ibuprofin just to calm it down. But please be careful on the horse. I know how much you want to be riding but but but stay safe!!!
Stay safe, we don't want you getting hurt. My sister has 2 bad knees and has given up riding her horse pretty much. She misses riding but knows she could be injured really bad if thrown. She wants no part of surgery!
Much luck with the tear, have a dear friend who had that and was in allot of pain till she finally gave in to surg, glad she had done.
