Khrysta is already a star to me so I entered one of her photos into the "American Morgan Horse Association's Most Beautiful Headshot" contest. The contest was for amateur photographers and the winning shots will appear in the Morgan Horse Magazine. I just got an email telling me my photo of Khrysta made it into the finals. Am I ever excited!!!
You can help make Khrysta's photo "The People's Choice" by sending an email to:
magazine@morganhorse.com and voting for photo #10.

Although all the horses are beautiful, there is only one Khrysta, that incredible, wonderful, frustrating mare who has my heart.

They are all so very pretty! I voted for #10, your beautiful Khrysta. Did I tell you my dad had a Morgan, Rocky was his name and he was most handsome. A stallion if my memory serves me correctly. good luck to ya'll!!
Khrysta got my vote! Good luck!
I just sent my vote - good luck!
Well, I voted. Hope she wins!
I sent my e-mail voting for your Khrysta> :-)
What gorgeous horses - especially number 10!
I voted for her, hope she wins!
Your header is simply gorgeous, as is your Morgan. I know nothing about horses, but just from going to the County fair, Morgan's have always been my very favorite. Thanks for visiting thornesworld.
We just sent in our vote for Khrysta. Good luck in the contest.
Krysta IS a beautiful horse, and I voted for her. :-)
Thanks for all your lovely comments on my blog and about our horses. My dream/hope is to ride Bang (paint horse) this year. He has not been ridden in almost 3 years, except for a 30 day stint 2 years ago. I have not ridden since I was 18, so I think between us we have quite a combination, hmmm?! He and I have bonded over the past year in a most incredible way, so I hope that helps him trust me (and treat me kindly, lol). Hubby got me a saddle for our anniversary as his saddles were a tad long in the stirrup for me.
I'm excited and will document our progress on my blog when we get started. :)
I'll go and vote right now. She is so beautiful :)
Voted! I did like some others too...but knowing Khysta, she has won my heart!
Okay..know you are getting an arena..thisnis good. You can have all kinds of things set up in there for her to discover in liberty and also in the saddle. Tarps..barrels..ramps..maybe even some water. Logs...gates.
You can start a trend with her...when she spooks ar acts like something will get her...try asking her to go away or Retreat from it "calmly". Then return a few steps(maybe one) more...retreat again..you get the picture... she will begin to trust you doing it like this..and also respect that you are not endangering her as; each time she does get to the feared object..and "Touches" it with her nose...she has conquered it.
My Washashe mare, when we first used to go out solo, would stop dead and head up and snort and want to run away..I started to "You Whoo" very loudly...as if there were somebody or t=something there that we needed to address...if anyone was to be near..it would have been a hilarious thing to hear! But, it worked everytime and she'd let out her breath and I'd aske her to walk on...I still do it if necessary now... It helps to keep you breathing and looser in the saddle..they so feel it when you tense up!
I know some that actually sing while riding..to loosen up and I have done this too...my mare realxes then too...even thought the moving uneven song, is not a pretty soundihng one!
Rubbing her shoulder for praise and comfort workes too...my mare loves this..when I put my hand on her wither and coo to her.
Try these.
The stirrups are from "Easy Care" company...they make the "Easy Boots".. there are all kinds and and sizes..western english, endurance.
I love them and some have cages too!
I voted for #10. Hope she wins!
