For this month's Share Your Hearts Giveaway, I thought I'd try something a little bit different. Quite some time ago, I discovered Kiva.org which is a site devoted to helping people out of poverty by loaning them money. Now, we are not talking about great sums of money; just a minimum of $25.00 and then that money is pooled together with other Kiva members to make a more substantial loan. You can browse through profiles of people who have requested help, learn about their endeavors and then decide who you would like to assist.
The winners of this month's contest will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to Kiva. org. The gift certificate would be used to lend money to any person shown on the Kiva website and would be yours to re-loan as the original loan gets paid.
So, the contest opens today and here are the rules:
1. Visit the Kiva website.
2. Return to my blog and let me know if you would like to be entered in this giveaway by listing your name in the comments.
3. The contest will close on July 16, 2009 and the winners will be announced on July 17, 2009.
4. There will be four winners and each will receive a $25.00 gift certificate to Kiva.org to use to make a loan as they please.
5. If you link back to this post and spread the word about Kiva.org on your blog, I will give you 10 extra entries.

I would love to be part of this! I think I've heard about Kiva before, or perhaps it was something similar. In any event, enter my name!
It will be oh so difficult for me to pick someone, as I'm sure they are all worthy. Also, I will want to loan them more than the $25, but alas, I have no more $$ in my savings and I am still looking for a job. :-(
But I will keep this site bookmarked, and once I have a job, I will return to it. Thanks for bringing it to our awareness! :)
I love this idea!! I never enter any of the blogging give-a-ways because I just don't need any more stuff! For the last 5 years we have made a conscience decision to live simply and try and live off our land as much as possible. It is amazing how little we really need in life!
This could be a great trend in the blogging world, where there are so mnany big hearts, I as have found out!
