"To Everything There is a Season"

"To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under Heaven. A time to be born and a time to die, time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance." Ecclesiastes 3

As my Mother lay ill these past weeks, I have had to face the possibility of losing her. I can barely acknowledge the thought. But we are mortal. "Ashes to ashes, dust to dust." Our lives are in God's hands and we are here on earth at His will.

My Mother and I have fought, we have disagreed, but we always come full circle back to the love that is shared between a mother and a child. Bound together with ties that cannot ever be shattered.

And as my Mother lay sick, the cycle of life continued in my family. My nephew welcomed twins and my niece is about to celebrate her marriage this weekend. Life, birth, death and all those wonderful and awful experiences in between bind us together, make our histories one, a shared consciousness, a collective memory. We may fight with our families, we may wander far away, but always, they are with us.

We are not perfect, no we are not, we follow different paths and sometimes grow apart but we never really leave our families.

And, as always, the cycle continues as we create new families in ceremonies steeped in tradition, fused with love and hope for the future.

I'd like to share with you today one of the most joyous days of my life, the marriage of my son to my beloved daughter in law. Bittersweet because my husband missed this momentous day in our son's life but he was there nonetheless carried in our hearts by all our memories. Family, forever, infinite thanks to the power of love.

I love the new look and the Dalai Lama quotes on the side!!!

Wow, there are a lot of good things going on by you. How lovely to hear that you like your new daughter-in-law so much--that is refreshing! It just looks like everyone was having a great time.

I'm sorry about your mom--how difficult to rejoice in new things when you see her life ending. What a mixture of emotions you must have.

Thank-you for sharing those lovely thoughts about family and your mother. They touched very close to home for me. I've been dealing with many of the same worries about my mother. The pictures of your sons wedding were the essence of a beautiful life together. Thanks for sharing those!

What a beautiful wedding ceremony. And as such as there is happiness there is sorrow. Losing a Mother is devastating but the memories you will hold dear in your heart will keep her alive always. Try not to think about losing her but cherish each moment you have with her now. You are in my thoughts a prayers.

Hey MW,

I am sorry to hear about your mother: may the Light be with her!

I love this passage of Ecclesiastes (well, I love the whole book, but this particular passage is beautiful and offers understanding about life and its details).

Congrats to your nephew and niece - life is smiling at them :D!

Congratulations to your son and daughter-in-law: may Love dwell in their home for eternity.

Family is the most precious gift God can ever bestow upon us; I can't live without mine and I thank the Lord everyday for their existence.

Aww, your daughter-in-law was beautiful! And your son is a handsome men...they will have beautiful children :)!

Thanks for sharing your happy moment with us.

Have a blessed weekend!

Cheers

A beautiful post, you have a way with words that get to my heart. I lost my mother 6 years ago and miss her so much, my dad passed away 4 years ago. I feel so alone without them. The bride is beautiful, the groom very handsome. I'm know his father watches over them from above. God bless you always!
