Day after day of almost 90 degree weather and my brain resembles a fried egg so today I shall ramble.I'm always looking for ways to earn money. Last week, MSN Money had an article, "Earn an extra $100.00 a month." One of the suggestions was terrific if you have lots of books around the house you won't use any more. The site is called:
Cash4Books
All you do is type in the ISBN of the book you want to sell and they tell you what they'll pay. If you agree, you print off a prepaid postage sticker and mail the books to them. If you have them pay you by putting money in a PayPal account, you earn an extra bonus. They also have a textbook exchange for those of you with kids in college. I sold 14 books this week and earned enough money to buy some groceries.
I had an idea while reading the most excellent blog, Robynn's Ravings. She reviewed the movie, "Julie and Julia" and at the end of her review wrote about the bond that exists among bloggers and how we care about each other and keep connecting. So I had an idea, this being the anniversary of Woodstock as well, what if we had Blogstock next summer?
Think of all the fabulous bloggers we know and all the wonderful places we could visit. Or if all else fails, I think we have room here if you're willing to sleep in tents. Heck, you can bring the dogs, bring the horses and the husbands can hang out with Mountain Man and saw logs or drive big equipment.
Maybe the heat is going to my head, yes, I'm sure it is but then maybe, just maybe it could work.
Thoughts people?

Wouldn't that be amazing? Our budget being what it ISN'T, I don't know how traveling would happen for us, but, that's a year away and God is BIG! I have other dear blogging friends, and some family, on the east coast and would love to see everyone. If they could harness all the energy from the talking and sharing we blogging friends would create, we could sell it back to the power company and pay for the whole THING!! :) Thanks for your kind words!
Happy Saturday Sharefest SITS Sister! Can't wait to check out the cash4books site. I have SO many books in this house! Many are out in the garage right now for garage sales...
Stop in and visit my blog if you wish!

It is a great thought, getting everyone together. I'm in the same boat Robynn is though, with a limited budget (I work for the state, so my income won't change anytime soon for the better).
So, maybe there's a way we could all get together online? Is there such a thing as video conferencing via home computers?
I am finding my blogging friends to be supportive, kind and thoughtful too, and would love to meet them. You included!
Got tent, will travel!!
That would be really amazing. I would love to attend, and I have all the way until next year to figure out how to get across this little country of ours right?
This cash4books thing is awesome, the sad thing is thinking of all the books I donated when we moved in 2007. I could have made a fortune!
I am sick of the heat. Tired of being stuck inside with the AC. It can be fall already, its okay with me.
Oh I want to come!! I'd love to meet my fellow bloggers and I can't think of a more beautiful place to do this than "Red Pine Mountain"! What a generous offer! Right now, I have a camper, but we also have a tent. A whole year to focus on getting thinner, I've got a goal now!
I'd work by butt off to find a way to get there. You just let me know when!!! I don't do tents - how about you renting me a room?
And thanks for the tip on cash4books. I'm gonna check it out.
Oh you are funny, but yes, I think that's an awesome idea! Blogstock! LOL
Re: the book site you mentioned, I utilized one called Blue Rectangle last year when I moved. I got rid of lots of my books in stages, because it was hard for me to part with them. But I really had far too many. I'm such a book whore. :) I sent books to BR on 3 or 4 different occasions, making a cool $20 or $30 each time.
That is a neat idea, but..... Could it be the heat talking???
I have to check out that Cash4Books site! Thanks for passing that on!!
Blogstock sounds AWESOME!!

I like your idea of a Blogstock--or Blogspot, or Blogger Reunion. But getting everyone together in one spot at the same time? I've got quite a few blogging buddies in Aussie land, and it might be pretty pricey for them to come. And then there's that blasted economic downturn that's been affecting all of us in some way or another! But great things start with just a small, simple idea, so don't give up.
Also, thanks for the idea about selling books. I've got to go see which of mine I think I could part with! :-)
Thanks for the info about Cash4books. Most of my books I'd like to sell are too old though, but I'll look around for sure. Going to share about this in my Friday "Things I Learned This Week" post with a link back here.
Love the idea of a bloggers get-together at your place but since we are homebodies, most likely wouldn't be coming, but it would be very fun to visit you on your gorgeous mountain.
I love your idea for the bloggers Woodstock. Can I bring my air guitar? :-)
I have no idea how I could come to visit but who knows what can happen in a year from now, so count me in !
The cash 4 books sounds great...and I do have many since I love to read.
I like the "Woodstock" idea LOL...something online would be fun...Washington State is a few miles away!
I'll bring the pie for blogstock...
I like the books for cash idea. Thanks for sharing!

There must be some way to pull it off. But, with this economy I just don't know!!
I am extremely lazy tonight and I am headed to give myself a facial and soak in a hot tub!!
A few more visits and this gal will be out for the night!!
Happy Monday!!:-)
Blogstock sounds amazing.

OK,... Blogstock sounds like a great idea. And a roaring bonfire to sit around. Mt.Man must have some scrap slabs or whatever to start the fire? I have tons of books so I'm off to explore that site. (
It sounds fabulous to me!
