It's almost time to say goodbye to Red Pine Mountain for the winter. Mountain Man is already on his way home from the Ozarks anxious to get all of us on the road before weather becomes an issue. We might be here for another week as we prepare the farm for our absence and Mountain Man finishes a few chores. The countdown has begun.
In the Ozarks, Mountain Man was busy preparing the pasture for Khrysta and cleaning out the old barn which hasn't been occupied in years. Every night, he'd tell me about the 70 degree weather and I'd tell him about the beautiful frosts here.
I've been busy trying to get organized to leave but my biggest concern has been for Khrysta on this long trip. The vet came. I learned if we traveled across state lines without a current health certificate and we were stopped, Khrysta and the trailer would be impounded. I asked him question after question on how to make the trip comfortable for her.
I've spent each day acclimating Khrysta to the trailer. She was a reluctant loader but with the help of the clicker, she will now walk on the trailer with a hand signal from me. No lead rope, no dressage whip, no tugging on a scared horse. It's amazing. I've spent time with her in the trailer, feeding her dinner there, hanging out with her and letting her acclimate to the different environment. I think she's ready but am I? Not really. But I've learned the only thing constant in life is change. As I put my long underwear back on the shelf, I think just perhaps it won't be so bad after all.
Here's pictures from the sunrise the other day.
And thank you to all of you who stop by and read and leave me comments. I feel as though you are all on this journey with me.

I love the beautiful sunrise pictures! :-)
Gorgeous pics! Safe travels. :O)
Oh, you sound sort of sad leaving. It's nice that you have a little change of scenery, but I know that it is hard to pack everyone up and move.
Hi, I love your new background and your picture. I am sad for you because I know you love it there, but it will be waiting for you in the Spring. I hope once you get to the Ozarks, you will like the warm weather in the winter.
Have a good day, Deborah
Your pictures are delightful!
I think i understand a little (just a little). I have to be away from home two nights every week & each time i leave it is so very difficult. I can't imagine being gone for a winter. I think it would kill me!
But i hope that you do enjoy your winter & the mild weather. And i send travel mercies/prayers & hope you have a good trip. It is good that you're having the chance to adjust her to adapt to the trailer.
The pictures are beautiful! I do hope you have a good winter, in spite of being reluctant to leave. Safe journey!
Jen
those pics are so pretty, reminds me I must go out and get some new shots for my blog.
Hopefully the horse will be fine, prob so with such a caring owner!
Beautiful pictures, as always! I guess I missed some key posts recently? I thought you were still wintering at Red Pine Mountain. I'll have to back-track :) Best of wishes, and have a safe journey to our neck of the woods! -Tammy
What a beautiful morning view. I wouldn't want to leave, but I am sure there are equally as beautiful views where you're headed. I guess with all things in life, we just have to see the beauty in what we have. I am glad to hear things are progressing well with Khrysta. I hope you have an 'uneventful' journey.
Be well. ~Andrea~
Home is where the heart is, they say. I'm sure a bit of your heart will stay forever on your mountain top. If Mountain Man, Khrysta, and all the pups are together with you in the Ozarks, that can be a home, too. Yes, it is sad to uproot and leave your things for a bit, but the things that really matter most will be coming with you! along with a waaayy warmer winter to look forward to!
and our hearts will follow you, too, on your new adventure.
I have been absent for a time and return to find you packing...I guesss I was unaware you did not winter there too...Am relieved that you have a more tolerable place to go.
Have you ever wintered there?
Your Khrysta is such a good mare..she really trusts you, as you have been faithful!I pray you don;t get stopped!!! What about getting the vet check done to be safe?! I would. That setback you do NOT want!
Be well my fine woman!
KK
I think you might want to reconsider putting your long underwear back on the shelf. It might get chilly in the Ozarks.
I'm looking forward to seeing what everything looks like there once you get there.
Safe travels to you, the Man and Khrysta :)
Beautiful pictures... i felt a little sad for you while reading this post... i hope your trip is a safe one and that Khrysta doesn't mind the trip too much... looking forward to hearing about your journey...
Beautiful pictures, and what a beautiful heart you have...caring so much for Khrysta.
I'm sure, with your way of thinking, you will find gold wherever you go.
You sound so very sad and I would be too. Does it hurt the horse to stand that long in a trailer? Can you stop along the way to let her stretch her legs?
Life is ever changing. Enjoy the 70 degree weather!!!
Boy change is constant and never seems to be easy , safe journey and hopefully all will go smoothly. Laura
please have a safe trip!!! i will be thinking about you!!
Beautiful pictures! I really enjoy reading your blog. Sending good thoughts your way for your journey, and am looking foward to many more posts!
Stunning pictures - a balm for the weary spirit.
And spending the winter somewhere balmy!! Yes please!
I'll be thinking of you as I'm digging out the sidewalk for the umpteenth time in the depths of winter!

Safe travels to you,... and keep posting so we can follow your months in the Ozarks! The beautiful NEK will be here for you when you return.
Is there someone to keep a watchful eye on Red Pine Mountain for you while your gone? I hope it's kept safe for you while your awat!! My husband and his brother haul horses from state to state and you will need health papers. Coggins and health papers from a vet. They were delayed in Colorado because the papers were not included with the other paper work when they picked up a new horse.
One thing about life and the world. God's beauty is everywhere. And home really is where you are with the people you love. You still will have it all, your Mountain Man, your animals, a beautiful world to get to know and love from a different point of view, Red Pine Mountain to come home too, and US! All your blogging friends.
Life is about change and ADVENTURE...
Love you Dear! HUGS!

I love the header picture. It must be so much work to get ready to leave. Just winterizing my RV is a hassle, let alone a home. I look forward to reading of you newest adventure and I'm happy that you will have every "being" important to you going along. Blessings on your journey.
Look at those skies. Wow! I've so much enjoyed your blog and I wish you the very best.
I hope you have a safe and wonderful journey!
Tracey
Beautiful photos! Safe travels to you.
You did a fine job with this horse and I'm sure traveling with Khrysta will go fine. Marvelous pictures !
Hey, Travel safely, I am glad things worked out for you all to go to the Ozarks! Beautiful photos.. smile you will have a great adventure! :)
First of all, a safe trip to all of you, humans and animals alike.
Secondly, where am I going to get my daily dose of the NEK??!! Bummer...but I'll still be stopping in to see what there is to see down there in the Ozarks.
Those are stunning pictures! I can understand why you would be sad to leave it.
Have a wonderful week!
Your photos are lovely. Godspeed on your journey and I so hope you and your animals enjoy the Ozarks. Best to you and Mtn Man.
Fantastic pictures of the sunrise. I'm jealous of the frost, we haven't had any here yet. Safe journey. :-)
Be safe on your journey to the Ozarks. I'm sure once you get there, it will be an exciting change from your normal routine in the northeast kingdom. The weather will not be as harsh and you will have warmer days in the winter - not to say that winter can't one-two-punch you there, but usually it IS milder. :)
I love your photos in this post -- beautiful!!
Please check in soon and let us know how you all are doing! I miss you!
Misha
Those sunrise photos are beautiful. Safe journeys. :)
Know what it's like to pack and relocate for the winter.....just went through it myself!
Your photos are wonderful.....
I've missed some posts so it comes as a surprise you're leaving Red Pine Mountain now. God Speed on your journey; be safe.
Oh, I didn't know you don't stay all year. What a job! But the Ozarks are beautiful too.
It is extremely interesting for me to read the post. Thanks for it. I like such themes and everything connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
Hey MW :D!
You are on the road already? Have a great trip :D!
You seemed saddened to leave, but oh well...like you said "the only constant thing in life is change" :D!
I'll be looking forward to hearing from you :D!
Cheers & may God be with you
How was the trip? Are you here yet? Are you all settled in? How did Khrysta weather the trip?
You came just in time for our pseudo winter here, but it will be nice again soon enough, starting tomorrow.
Safe travels! I hope you have a wonderful adventure!!
I've been missing my RPM stories. I've stopped blogging, but I love reading this one, especially the inspirational posts. Hope it's warmer there than here, been sunny, but cold, below freezing now at night :(
No more blogging for me, so I guess I'll just sign now as
Alan
